eBOM 2009 Step by Step Examples: Combining 'Where Used' and 'Replace Part'

In this example I have created 5 identical bays each of which reference sub-assembly P0001916 – 3.3m End Wall.

Step 1

Using the new ‘Where Used’ function identify where the 3.3m wall is used in this project.

Step 2

To change the 3.3m wall for a 3.1m wall in bays 1, 3 and 5. Select the 3 instances of P0001916 the 3.3m wall in the ‘Where Used’ results for the current project. Use the ‘Replace Part’ function to change them for the 3.1m version.

Step 3

Click on the 'With...' button to select the part to replace the multiple selection.

Step 4

Parts can be selected from the database or current project. In this example the list of parts from the current project has been filtered using the 'Advanced Find' tool for parts containing 'END WALL' in the description. Find the P0001915 - 3.1m End Wall and click the 'Select' button to select it and OK to return to the replace dialogue.

Step 5

Confirm the correct part has been selected and click 'OK' to replace the 3.3m wall with the 3.1m variant in bays 1,2 and 3.

The result of the Replace Part function is shown below. P0001916 has been replaced by P0001915 in Bay 1, 3 and 5. ‘Where Used’ confirms that P0001916 is now only used on Bay 2 and Bay 4.
